There’s everything from interactive rides and shop recreations to Butterbeer and Fizzing Whizzbees – and you can buy a wand and perform magic in designated areas, too. If you’ve had the chance to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, you’ll already know how the epic theme park can bring a fantasy world to life and truly immerse you in all the attractions. So, we’re hoping to be kicking Koopa Troopa shells, diving into warp pipe worlds, chowing down on mushroom power-ups and cruising down Rainbow Road in a Mario Kart – we don’t ask for much. Universal Creative President Mark Woodbury has described their plans as ‘immersive, colourful, exciting and interactive’, aka all the ingredients that make a great theme park world, and Mario is set to take centre stage. There are plans to open Super Nintendo Worlds at Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood, but there's absolutely nothing solid about their timing-in the case of the former, Florida theme park resource Orlando Informer reports that the Nintendo attractions will open sometime after 2024.Nintendo and Universal’s partnership has just been announced, and there are plans in place for three new Nintendo-themed worlds at Universal Orlando, Universal Hollywood and Universal Japan. Speedrunners, please don't hurt yourself hopping backwards up those stairs. Likewise, there's something delightfully surreal about seeing the life-size Mario Kart attraction after zooming the little Home Circuit RC car around my apartment. The main plaza, with its blocky brown hills and Bowser's castle looming in the distance, is absolutely stunning. We've finally moved past blurry phone pictures and 3D-rendered advertising images of what Universal Studios Japan's newest area will look like to colorful, wondrous photos of what the Mario-themed park will actually look like. 4, 2021, it might be hard to suppress a sigh of longing from your inner child.
Then again, with the release of some new photos alongside today's announcement of the park's imminent opening on Feb.
